Established in 1999, Singburi began as a modest, family-run Thai restaurant in Leytonstone, East London. Founded by the Kularbwong family, the eatery quickly gained a devoted following for its authentic Thai cuisine, characterized by bold flavors and traditional cooking techniques.
Under the culinary leadership of Chef Sirichai Kularbwong, Singburi became renowned for its ever-changing blackboard specials, offering dishes that ventured beyond the typical Thai restaurant fare in the UK. Signature offerings included fiery relishes paired with fresh fruits and vegetables, spicy larbs, crispy pork belly with chili and holy basil (moo krob), and clams in roast chili jam and basil. The restaurant's commitment to authenticity and quality earned it a spot at number 71 on the National Restaurant Awards Top 100 list in 2023, surpassing esteemed establishments like St John and The River Café.
In late 2024, following the retirement of Sirichai's parents, Singburi closed its Leytonstone location. However, the spirit of Singburi lives on as Sirichai collaborates with chefs Nick Molyviatis and Alexander Gkikas to reopen the restaurant in Shoreditch in spring 2025. The new iteration promises to retain the essence of the original while embracing a broader, distinctly London perspective, featuring a grill and a curated drinks list.
From its humble beginnings to its evolution into a celebrated culinary destination, Singburi's journey reflects a dedication to authentic Thai flavors and a passion for sharing them with the London community.
Nestled in the heart of Leytonstone, Singburi has long been celebrated as one of London's most authentic Thai dining experiences. Established in 1999, this family-run eatery quickly garnered a devoted following for its bold flavors, traditional cooking techniques, and ever-evolving menu.

Singburi's menu was a testament to the rich tapestry of Thai cuisine. While the à la carte offerings provided classic dishes, the ever-changing blackboard specials were the true stars. Favorites included:
Moo Krob: Crispy pork belly stir-fried with chili and holy basil.
Clams in Roast Chili Jam: A harmonious blend of sweet, spicy, and savory flavors.
Yam Som O: A vibrant pomelo salad bursting with fresh herbs and a spicy kick.
Salted Fish Fried Rice: A comforting dish with layers of umami and aromatic shallots.
Each dish showcased the restaurant's dedication to authentic Thai flavors, prepared with passion and precision.
Dining at Singburi was more than just a meal; it was an experience. The cozy, unpretentious setting, combined with the warm hospitality of the Kularbwong family, made every visit memorable. The restaurant operated on a BYOB (Bring Your Own Bottle) policy, encouraging guests to pair their favorite drinks with the bold flavors of the dishes. Reservations were a must, as the restaurant's reputation meant tables were often booked weeks in advance.
